I am delighted to say that the hubby has secured a job for 13 weeks with the same company. I am of course happy but what a carry on. Made redundant but at the same time advised that there was a vacancy for a 13 week project doing the same thing, with the same company but in Kirkcaldy which is 1hr & 15 min drive from our house. There was 8 guys put in for the job and fortunately the hubby secured it so he was made redundant on Friday and started the new project on Monday. We are hoping by the time this project ends that the company will have picked up and perhaps there will be more projects.
Fingers crossed.

Very likely. Oldest HR trick in the book. Take people off the official headcount, so it looks good on paper. Then hire them back as contractors.
Thta's just typical! My neighbour was forced to retire and then three weeks later they hired him on as 'casual' labour... that was 2 years ago and he's still doing exactly the same job as he used to do...
Right I just caughtup with you after ages. You've been through the mill a bit what with the plot for your granny and redundancy. Your parenting class is great - so much common sense and I love reading about your progress - those lightbulb moments when it pings on to show you something so logical you wonder why you didn't think of it in the first place.
Hope all is well with you. I've setup to follow you so I don't miss any more posts!
Expat mum - it seems mad, but at least the hubby got a job there were about 15 agency guys and 7 permanant staff that went, it's happening all over and we're just glad he has this for the next few months.
Sparx - I don't think much about the future but my mum, who's 61, keeps banging on about pensions, all this chopping and changing is not good for the future, but my main concern is for living for today, I'll worry about money when I'm 65!
MOB - nice to see you, glad you've caught up, I have been over catching up with you bit by bit. Parenting classes are fab, I'm loving it and I think before I shout now, well no that's not strictly true, I start and that little voice that I always ignored, the one that goes 'shut up, shut up, listen to you ranting on and on and on' well I now hear that voice, immediately change my tone and lower my voice and the kids are responding well.
